FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about our restoration services? Here are the answers we hear most — from what we cover to how fast we respond.

What is water damage restoration?

Water damage restoration is the process of removing standing water, drying the structure, and returning a property to its pre-loss condition. It goes well beyond mopping up — moisture travels into drywall, subfloors, and wall cavities where it can’t be seen. We use moisture meters and thermal imaging to map how far water has actually spread, then dry and document every affected material to industry-standard levels before any rebuilding starts.

What is mold damage?

Mold damage is what happens when moisture sits long enough for mold to take hold in building materials — drywall, insulation, carpet, and wood. Growth can begin within 24 to 48 hours of water exposure, which is why fast drying matters so much. Beyond staining and odor, mold releases spores into the air you breathe, and remediation requires containment and controlled removal rather than surface cleaning.

Mold Remediation & Removal
What should I do when water damage happens?

Stop the water at its source if you safely can — the fixture shut-off, or the main valve. Move what you can off wet flooring, and take photos of everything before anything is cleaned or moved, because your insurance adjuster will want them. Then call us. Surface drying rarely solves the problem on its own, and the sooner drying starts, the less material has to be removed.

Will my insurance cover the cost?

Often, but it depends on the cause and your policy. Sudden, accidental damage — a burst supply line or a failed water heater — is typically covered. Damage from a slow leak that went unnoticed for months is more likely to be treated as a maintenance issue. We can’t promise an outcome on your policy, but we can make your claim as strong as possible: we document the cause and extent, provide moisture logs, photos, and estimates, and communicate directly with your adjuster.

Do you handle fire damage?

Yes. Fire restoration covers more than what burned — smoke and soot travel through the whole structure, and the water used to put the fire out creates its own damage. We handle smoke and odor removal, soot cleanup, structural drying, and coordination of the rebuild, working with your insurance throughout.

Fire & Smoke Damage
Is asbestos dangerous?

Yes — all forms of asbestos are carcinogenic to humans, and there is no known safe level of exposure. Asbestos that is intact and undisturbed is generally not an immediate hazard; the danger comes when it is cut, sanded, or broken during demolition, releasing microscopic fibers into the air. If your home was built before 1980, testing is required by law before any material is removed. We arrange independent third-party testing before we touch anything.
